Practicing Liberation

Workshops & gatherings where liberatory practice is imagined and built together.

“Liberation is not a place we arrive at, but a practice we return to.”

Practicing liberation begins with the understanding that liberation is not a final destination, or a perfect future, or something we wait for institutions to grant us. It is something we practice. Again and again.

In our bodies. In our relationships. In how we gather. In how we listen. In how we grieve. In how we create. In how we refuse what harms us. In how we imagine what has not yet been allowed to exist.

This space is where we come together to practice liberation as a living, shared, and embodied process. It is a space for workshops, gatherings, creative practices, reflection, rest, movement, storytelling, and collective imagination. Here, liberation is something we build through practice, through relationship, and through the small and sacred acts that help us return to ourselves and each other.

A space of knowing
and practice

Practicing Liberation is imagined as a space where people from the collective, alongside invited practitioners, can offer workshops and gatherings that support reflection, creativity, embodiment, and collective care. These offerings may change over time depending on capacity, need, relevance, and the people who feel able to contribute. They may include:

  1. Writing workshops
  2. Scent and perfume workshops
  3. Music and listening sessions
  4. Meditation
  5. Kundalini practice
  6. Black feminist yoga
  7. Storytelling
  8. Liberating walks in nature
  9. Creative and embodied practices shaped by members of the collective

Each practice offers a different way of knowing. Some may help us find language. Some may help us return to the body. Some may help us listen differently. Some may help us move grief, anger, joy, exhaustion, memory, and possibility.

Together, these practices remind us that liberation is not only spoken. It is breathed, written, walked, sung, stretched, remembered, and made.

Why practice matters

Institutional harm can disconnect people from their own knowing. It can make people doubt their memory, silence their voice, shrink their body, or feel alone with what happened.

Practicing liberation is one way of refusing that disconnection. These practices are about making room for what institutions often suppress: voice, memory, rest, creativity, anger, grief, pleasure, intuition, and collective power.

What we hope to build

We hope to build a programme of gatherings that feels alive, responsive, and rooted in the needs of the collective. All will be shaped by the belief that liberation is practiced in relation.

This section will become a home for upcoming workshops, gatherings, invitations, reflections, and practices offered by members of the collective or invited practitioners whose work aligns with the values of this project.

We are not trying to create another institution that asks people to perform healing. We are creating space to practice freedom in ways that feel honest, accountable, embodied, and shared.

“Liberation is not a place we arrive at, but a practice we return to.”
